Use it or Lose it!

How do you achieve more Room to Live?

Here’s a simple home decluttering strategy anyone can do: use it or lose it!

Look around the space. Do you see things that you use? Great! They can stay. Do they have a HOME? If not, find one that makes sense, and put the items away.

If you don’t use the items, lose them! GET THEM OUT OF THERE!

Here’s the clincher: You don’t “lose” it by ignoring it. Take action right away. You have options!

  1. Put them in the trash or recycling (easy, but please try not to make unnecessary waste);
  2. Schedule a charity pickup and start a box or bag to fill up before they arrive (also pretty easy);
  3. Offer them up on your local Buy-Nothing group (easy-ish depending on the item);
  4. Arrange to take them to a special place like a consignment shop or an awesome place like Second Chance that recycles special items by re-using or re-purposing them (a bit more involved, but worthwhile!)

Disclaimer: it’s not very plus-ultra to get rid of other people’s stuff–so try to just focus on your OWN items. Or team-work with anyone else whose stuff is in the space.

Now, there will be things that you are not using but you need to keep. I have ideas for how to handle these. Ask me!

Use it or lose it. That’s all there is to it. You’ve got this!

As always, if the job is too big or you have a tight deadline, call Room to Live to get it done!
